Frequently Asked Questions
1
Is your practice evidence-based?
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and mindfulness‑based approaches are all backed by hundreds of peer-reviewed scientific studies concluding that they are effective treatments for anxiety, depression, and emotional distress and that they help develop healthy coping strategies, facilitate behavior change, and improve daily functioning. These are not just “talk” therapies, they’re structured, skill‑based methods supported by evidence.

3
Not at all. Men’s issues are one of my primary specializations, but I do not work only with male clients. I welcome referrals from women as well and offer the same focused, structured, and practical approach to anyone who would benefit from it.
What does “Athelas” mean?
4
Athelas is the name of a plant from the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, namely the Lord of the Rings and The Silmarillion. It’s a medicinal herb that has healing properties for body, mind, and spirit. Even the mere fragrance of the herb can help calm the mind and bring a sense of hope to the spirit. These books are some of my favorites. I’m drawn to them because they wrestle honestly with themes that matter deeply in life: courage in the face of loss, the quiet power of humility, the struggle to choose good even when all feels hopeless, and the idea that even the smallest among us can have the largest impact.
